Terms of Service

1. What VotersRight is

VotersRight is a free civic-information platform: it publishes senators' voting records, campaign finance, district spending, and tracked promises with citations to primary sources, and lets verified constituents register an approve/disapprove signal on their own senators. Using the site to read requires no account. These terms apply when you create an account or submit anything to us.

2. One person, one account

Approval signals are only meaningful if each one represents a real constituent. You agree to maintain at most one account, verified with a phone number you control. Creating multiple accounts, verifying with numbers you don't control, automating signups, or otherwise manipulating the approval signal violates these terms and we may retire the affected votes and close the accounts involved. (Our methodology page documents how we detect and disclose this.)

3. Your vote signal is public by design

Aggregate approval counts are published, and individual vote events are recorded as pseudonymous transactions on a public blockchain so third parties can verify our counts. We never publish your name, phone, or address alongside a vote — but the pseudonymous on-chain record itself is permanent and public. Don't cast a vote signal if you're not comfortable with that design. Account deletion retires your votes from our aggregates and severs our wallet mapping; it cannot erase a public blockchain's history.

4. Acceptable use

Don't attempt to breach, probe, or overload the platform; don't scrape at rates that degrade it for others; don't submit corrections, error reports, or press inquiries that are fraudulent or abusive; don't use the platform to harass anyone, including the officials it covers. We rate-limit and may block traffic that violates this.

5. Our content and corrections

We publish civic data with citations to primary sources and correct errors publicly (see the public correction archive). The data is provided as-is, without warranty of completeness or fitness for any purpose — verify against the cited primary source before relying on it. Nothing here is legal or voting advice. Our publications are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any government body or campaign.

6. Submissions

When you submit a correction, error report, or press inquiry, you grant us the right to review, edit, publish, and archive it as part of our editorial process. Submitting something doesn't obligate us to publish it.

7. SMS

SMS is used only for sign-in codes and critical account changes — never marketing. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out (this disables SMS sign-in until you re-enable it) and HELP for help. See the Privacy Policy for how phone numbers are stored (hashed at rest, never sold).

8. Termination & changes

You can delete your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and continued use after a change is acceptance. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stand.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms: [email protected]. Press: press inquiries.
